Judge Can Weigh Parole Date When Setting Sentence, Rules Md Court of Special Appeals
A Montgomery County man who bludgeoned his mother to death will not get a new sentence, the Court of Special Appeals has decided. Peter H. Reiger argued it was improper for the sentencing judge to announce, before imposing the maximum 30-year term for second- degree murder, that he was taking into account Reiger's eligibility for parole.
Games for Health Project Helps Health Care Progress
It might seem a little farfetched that the same technology used to create shoot-'em-up games or car-racing simulators could also help reduce the pain of a sick child or assist a public health official in choreographing a disaster response. Or, maybe it isn't. Strengthening the strange marriage of video games and health care is the job of the Games for Health Project, a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation initiative that points to video games as the new patient information source, or even the new t...

Rent-to-own? Not in the Hamilton business area. As state and local agencies prepare to accommodate the growth that will accompany the military base realignment, a local transit advocacy group is voicing concern that the state has focused too heavily on highway projects.
