When the organizers of the Volvo Ocean Race announced Thursday that the race would not be returning to Baltimore and Annapolis for the 2008-2009 season, the first victim was the Waterfront Festival on the Inner Harbor. The four-day event, which drew 300,000 people to downtown Baltimore last spring, was canceled for 2009 because the race was not stopping in the city.

Jamaal A. Abeokuto possesses a religious fervor that is almost "over the top," the convicted child-killer's brother testified yesterday at a sentencing hearing. Last year, the state saw 314 mergers and acquisitions worth $24.5 billion. That is up from 163 such deals worth $11.3 billion in 2002. Those numbers, compiled exclusively for The Daily Record by Bloomberg Financial, include deals in which Maryland companies were the acquirer, target or both.
When the Workplace Becomes Intolerable
Have you ever thought about complaining about your boss to her boss? Dan Kinsbourne, newly minted vice president of 180s Inc., did just that in October 2005.
