The Board of Public Works approved a $14.4 million conservation land buy for the state in Worcester County on Wednesday, giving the measure the go-ahead despite concerns that the price may not reflect the current real estate market.
The property, which includes 4,769 acres and is adjacent to several other protected lands, will be purchased through the state's Program Open Space. That program uses money from property transfer taxes to buy and protect undeveloped land. The federal government is chipping in about $5.1 million in transportation money toward the cost of the land.See the full content of this document
