Summary


A federal judge in Greenbelt has granted summary judgment in favor of a home builder who was alleged to have unlawfully borrowed a couple's plans for a specially designed master bedroom suite.

In 1997, Bruce and Gail Watkins contracted to buy a home in Upper Marlboro, the design of which they had modified to suit their own particular tastes. Upon learning that Chesapeake Custom Homes LLC had incorporated their design into subsequent models, the Watkinses sought copyright protection for their drawings and plans.
