Summary
Note this date, for the Baltimore City Council has again earned approbation for its latest triumph: the Comprehensive Compassionate Child Protection ordinance. This first-in-the-nation ordinance combines common sense approaches with an audacious cutting edge philosophy, all with a single goal - to protect our children. By criminalizing conduct that heretofore has been the cause of so much distress in our community, the Council has taken an historic step sure to be recognized by progressive thinkers everywhere as the best way, the most comprehensive way, to ensure an environment in which children can grow and thrive. Each of the parts of the CCCP is laudable on its own; together, one wonders how a child's life can ever go astray again.
The school food provisions, which criminalize the serving of meat and soft drinks to children in school, are obviously a great step forward. When combined with the ban on the sale of fried food to children under 18 (including so-called "snack food"), the effect on the lives of our children is the most positive since the passage of child labor laws some four generations ago.See the full content of this document
