Maryland and Israel are starting a year-long homeland security business development program that officials hope will increase the state's role in the global economy and allow Maryland to reap the benefits of Israel's fledgling technology industry.

The third in a series of business development programs, called MarketReach America, begins today with a reception held by Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. in Annapolis. The program highlights Maryland's commitment to the development of new high-tech products, Ehrlich said in a prepared statement.
