Former Mercantile Bankshares Corp. executive Michael T. Flynn has taken over as chief executive of Bethesda-based EagleBank, a relatively young but fast-growing bank operating in Washington and Maryland's wealthiest subdivision, Montgomery County.

I'm very excited that [Flynn] has joined us, said Chairman Ronald D. Paul, who is also president of the bank's parent company, Eagle Bancorp. It will give the bank the opportunity to grow like it did at first, Paul added.
