Greatly outnumbered in both chambers of the state legislature, Republican lawmakers, encouraged and supported by Maryland's first Republican governor in more than 30 years - are intensifying efforts to win seats in Annapolis.

Just 30 percent of the General Assembly is Republican - 43 out of 141 members in the House of Delegates, 14 out of 47 in the Senate.
