"Professional Association was a preferred manner of having lawyers associate with each other [when the firm was founded in 1906]. That was one of the authorized [ways] to associate rather than a straight partnership. ... It wasn't until later that limited liability corporations came into being, and we just never changed our charter over to that. The limited liability corporation may be a preferable way of associating but we never made that change. ... We probably stuck with it due to inertia. I think there are certain better features for an LLC ... but frankly, I don't know what they are. ... We may look at it, but it's not on the immediate agenda."
