EEOC sues GBMC
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Wednesday it filed suit against Greater Baltimore Medical Center, claiming the Towson-based hospital discriminated against a clerk when it fired him because of his medical condition. In its suit, the EEOC said that from at least May 2006, GBMC denied Michael E. Turner any reasonable accommodation, such as a possible reassignment, then fired him and refused to rehire him in any capacity because of his disabilities. Turner has neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder, and stroke-related impairments. Turner started working part-time at GBMC in October 1984 and became a full-time employee in December 1990, the EEOC said.See the full content of this document
