Federal prosecutors have urged the judge that sentenced Hunt Valley fraudster Alan B. Fabian to nine years for stealing tens of millions of dollars to reject his jailhouse attempt to overturn his prison term without a hearing, dismissing many of his arguments as too little too late and calling his claim of innocence "simply laughable."

In a 70-page omnibus response filed this week at U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake's request, the government notes Fabian -- a consultant, philanthropist and Republican Party fundraiser -- pled guilty to mail fraud and filing a false tax return, and in so doing, admitted to a long statement of facts, some of which he now disputes, and gave up most of his appeal rights, some of which he now attempts to assert.
