Commentary: Hard Science, Public Health at Root of American Visionary Art Museum Water Exhibit

Summary


I recently visited the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, located at the foot of Federal Hill at 800 Key Highway. The affable and hard-working director, Rebecca Hoffberger, was kind enough to give me a tour of this most unusual museum, composed of three former warehouses that have been masterfully transformed architecturally and artistically.

I was drawn there by the opportunity to view the current exhibit entitled Holy H2O, which will be closing shortly. This year-long exhibit, which features fascinating aspects - from the scientific to the mystical - of this simple, common, everyday substance, will end its well-received run Sept. 4.
