Opening up the Maryland Legal Services Corp.'s 25th anniversary symposium, Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin's office announced Thursday he will introduce legislation next year to increase federal funding to meet the legal needs of lower income residents.

"We cannot allow this justice gap to continue, and we must move to increase access to justice for low-income Americans who need an attorney to provide civil legal assistance," Bailey Fine, a representative for Cardin, told the audience.
