In the future, medicine could be in the palm of your hand - quite literally, according to Peter Searson, director of the Institute for NanoBioTechnology at the Johns Hopkins University.

Searson, speaking yesterday at a Greater Baltimore Committee symposium on nanomedicine, described a world in which patients could monitor their health by depositing a drop of blood into a nanoscience-powered device for analysis.
