Summary


State charges nursing school with deceptive trade practices

MALMILVENTURES LLC of Columbia, which operates the Associated National Medical Academy on Howard Street in Baltimore, and principals John Malone and John Miller, have been charged with unfair and deceptive trade practices in connection with their nurses' training programs, the Maryland attorney general's office said Tuesday. The Consumer Protection Division said the school has not obtained necessary approvals from state agencies, and the training will not qualify students to become licensed nurses in Maryland. Prosecutors said the company and its owners disregarded a cease and desist order and refused to refund payments they accepted from consumers. A hearing on the charges is scheduled for June 2.
